A case for concrete, carefully

Concrete has a difficult reputation. Used sparingly, it can still be the most honest material on site.

Concrete is heavy in every sense — in carbon, in weight, in reputation. We use less of it every year.

When we do use it, we ask it to do several jobs at once: structure, finish, thermal mass and shade. The Tide Pavilion arches are all four.

Pigmented white, left raw and cleaned by the rain, it ages better than almost anything else we specify.
