Rooms for reading
What the Atlas Reading Room taught me about light, silence and the height of a table.

A reading room is a room for not being disturbed. Most of the design is about taking things away.
At Atlas we removed every window at eye level and brought daylight down from above, so nothing outside competes with the page.
The tables are four centimetres lower than standard. Nobody notices; everyone stays longer.
